RTV is two-component silicone elastomer crosslinking at room temperature by a polycondensation or addition reaction. It yields a flexible, elastic material presenting excellent tear resistance.
Applications:
Moulds or membranes made from RTV are used for manufacture in series of pieces in filled polyester, plaster, natural or synthetic cement, reconstituted stone, polyurethane compact and foams, etc.
Special applications in the following fields:
- Art and decoration: molding of sculptures or statuettes
- Furnishing: casting of furniture and decorations
- Building: prefabrication of decorative features
- Can be made thixotropic with THIXOTROPIC ADDITIVE
The two components are thoroughly mixed either by hand or using an electrical or pneumatic mixer, on a low speed. The best curing conditions are at 23⁰C and 50% Humidity; the membranes can be demolded after 24h.
In order to achieve the best possible performance levels from the membranes, it is preferable to wait for 24 h before using them. The definitive properties will be acquired after 3-7 days.
It is recommended not to use the product at temperatures below 20⁰C; under these conditions, the final product performance levels will be difficult to achieve.
